Maximize Efficiency and Reliability with Parallel Telemetry

The type of transmission used for MWD equipment is one of the most important decisions an operator must make. Two main types exist; mud pulse (MP) and electromagnectic (EM) telemetry. While EM is lauded for its efficiency; signal loss due to resistive formations and deeper wells can lead to transmission issues. On the other hand, mud pulse is reliable even at depth but will not work in foam or air drilling applications.

This is where Parallel Telemetry comes in. Utilizing both EM and MP simultaneous ensures maximum efficiency and reliability. Parallel Telemetry removes the need to trip out of the hole to change equipment. With both technologies working independently, the operator can keep drilling regardless of depth, formation resistivity or mud type.

  • Faster Data Transmission Rate
  • Able to operate in any drilling fluid (mud, oil, air, foam, etc)
  • Fully retrievable MWD system • Low or no survey wait time
  • Proven tensor technology MWD
  • No need to trip out of the hole to switch from EM to MP
  • EM and MP run independently and constantly without operator intervention
  • Patented lower poppet housing allows mud pulse technology to work even in formations where high LCM is needed
  • EM is unaffected by mud type and LCM
  • Reduction of non-productive time (NPT) by utilizing both EM and MP
  • EM is unaffected by changing lithology enabling constant signal regardless of formation resistivities
  • Ultimate reliability with a built-in tool backup. If one technology fails, the other continues to transmit
